This week we hear James warn against selfish ambition, while the disciples quarrel over which one of them is the greatest. Jesus tells them the way to be great is to serve. Then, to make it concrete, he puts in front of them a flesh-and-blood child. We are called to welcome the children God puts in front of us, to make room for them in daily interaction, and to give them a place of honor in the assembly.

Please join us at 9:40 on Sunday for our new Sunday School season! 

It's time to begin our elections process.  We are seeking names for our nominating committee for the 2024-2025 cycle.  If you know someone who would be willing to serve, and who you think would do a good job, please submit their name to Pastor William.  The committee will be elected on Sunday, October 6.  

Thank you to everyone who has and continues to bring in food items for our food pantry.  Please check on the food pantry to be sure it stays stocked up.  Have you seen our chalkboard in the narthex?  It has a list of items needed for that week.  This week we could use canned fruit and rice or pasta side dishes.  

Please join us this Sunday after services as we pray over homes in our community.  We will have ice and drinks with us, grab your walking shoes and come along!

Our annual yard sale has been scheduled for the first Saturday in October, October 5.  Bring in your sale items!  They will be kept in the youth room until we need more room.  Items will be priced and organized on October 4, we have sign up sheets for pricing, set up, sale hours, and tear down.  Proceeds from the yard sale go toward our Thanksgiving food box ministry.  

Our barbecue benefiting Hands of Hope Clinic has also been scheduled for the first Saturday in October, October 5.  Tickets are available for pre-sale.  Please take some tickets to sell to friends and neighbors!
